TO THE MEMBERS OF THE OLYMPIC COMMITTEE OF SERBIA

SUBJECT: RECOGNITION OF THE BEST SERBIAN ATHLETES AND TEAMS IN 2008
 

To Whom It May Concern:

                This year, in accordance with its members’ proposals and decision of the Executive Board, the Olympic Committee of Serbia will recognise the best athletes (male and female) and teams (men’s and women’s) in 2008.

                With this in view, we would kindly ask you to submit your nominations with accompanying explanation for the best athletes and teams in Serbia in 2008 no later than 1 December 2008.

                Let us remind you that you can nominate candidates you find deserving in all four categories in any sport in accordance with the Criteria.

Please find attached the Criteria according to which the NOC SRB Executive Board will make a selection following the arrival of your submissions and announce the best athletes and teams in Serbia in 2008.

CRITERIA FOR RECOGNITION OF THE BEST SERBIAN ATHLETES NAD TEAMS
 

1.  Candidates for the best male and female athletes and men’s and women’s teams must compete in the sports on the Olympic, Paralympic and Chess Olympics programmes. 

2.  The best results are those achieved at the following competitions:

- Olympic Games

- World Championships

- European Championships

- World Cups (or their equivalents bearing a different name in a number of sports,  Grand prix – athletics, Intercontinental A tournament – judo, etc.)

- European Cups

- Paralympic Games

- Chess Olympics 

3. In case of an identical result, a male or a female athlete competing in an individual sport has the advantage over a male or a female athlete competing in a team sport except when the athlete competing in a team sport was made the best player in the Olympic tournament, World and European Championships.

4. Mass appeal and popularity of the sport in the world. 

5. Number of athletes each nation can register for participation in the competitions listed in Point 2 of the Criteria.

6. If no top results (winning a medal in the competitions listed in Point 2 of the Criteria) were achieved in the year for which the selection is conducted, there will be no recognition of the best athletes and teams for that year.
