Jasna Šekarić

Jasna Šekarić (born in Belgrade on 16 December 1965), a member of “Red Star”, coached by Vladimir Jevtić (till 2003) and Goran Maksimović (since 2004). She began to practise shooting in Osjek in 1980.
She took part in five editions of the Olympic Games (1988, 1992, 1996, 2000 and 2004) and won five medals which makes her the best Olympian of Serbia and Montenegro (Yugoslavia):

Seoul, 1988
Air pistol: 1st place with 489,5 (31 competitors, 21 nations).
Sport pistol: 3rd place with 686 (30 competitors, 20 nations).
Barcelona, 1992
Air pistol: 2nd place with 486,4 (47 competitors, 31 nations).
Sport pistol: 6th place with 676 (41 competitors, 29 nations).
Atlanta, 1996
Air pistol: 4th place with 487,1 (41 competitors, 26 nations).
Sport pistol: 6th place with 680,4 (37 competitors, 25 nations).
Sydney, 2000
Air pistol: 2nd place with 486,5 (45 competitors, 32 nations).
Sport pistol: 17th place with 577 (42 competitors, 28 nations).
Athens, 2004
Air pistol: 2nd place with 483,3 (41 competitors, 30 nations).
Sport pistol: 9th place with 579 (37 competitors, 26 nations).

Jasna Šekarić was elected world’s best shooter of the year thrice (1990, 1994 and 2005), and the International Shooting Sport Federation awarded her the title of “Shooter of the Millennium” in 2000.
She was a three-time world champion (Budapest 1987; Sarajevo 1989; Milan 1994).
She was a four-time European champion in individual competition (Espoo 1986; Manchester 1991; Budapest 1992; Budapest 1996; Belgrade 2005).
She was a two-time European vice-champion: in Copenhagen in 1989 and Arnhem in 1990.
She medalled five bronzes at the European championships: one in junior competition (Osjek 1985) and four in senior competition (Zagreb 1989; Strasbourg 1994; Arnhem 1999; Zagreb 2001).
She was a three-time European champion in team competition (1989, 1992 and 1995).
She triumphed six times in the World Cup Finals and won six “Crystal Globes”: one in the sport pistol (1988) and five in the air pistol (1990; 1996; 1997; 2005).
In the 1996 World Cup Finals she first equalled the world record with 392, and then bettered it to 492,7.
She won a total of 90 medals in major competitions (the Olympic Games, European and World Championships, World Cups, Mediterranean Games).
